Factors Affecting EHRs Adoption in Primary Care Practices in Phila

The focus of this qualitative case study is to explore why primary care practices (PCPPs) continue to delay the adoption of electronic health record (EHRs) system regardless of the ability to increase efficiency and quality of patient health care. Electronic health records (EHRs) have long been hyped as a critical factor for decreasing health-care costs and improving health-care quality, by enabling clinical analytics using “big data” (Sherer, Meyerhoefer, & Peng, 2016).

Obtained permission from Capella University Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to commencing research will ensure ethical protection of research participants and obtained data. Khan, Barratt, Krugman, Serwint, & Dumont-Driscoll (2014) reported IRBs ensure the ethical treatment and protection of all research participants.

About the researcher

This researcher’s role as a qualitative researcher is to observe and collect observational data. This researcher has worked within the medical industry as a microbiologist before transitioning solely into the technology industry as a project manager. Currently working on PhD in Information Technology to teach graduate & undergraduate studies in innovations of IT.
