Smartphone App to Report Cyber Crime

The goal of this project is to gain an understanding of the concerns and needs of the potential users of an app to report Cyber Crime. This will help the further understanding of reporting cyber crime, and the perception of potential users of the app to whether this could be a logical next step in the reporting process.

This study has been approved by the University of Central Lancashire ethics committee on June 4th 2017.

About the researcher

This study is being conducted by Ellie Howie, a MSc Cybercrime Investigation student at the University of Central Lancashire. We are performing research into reporting crime through a smartphone app. By exploring this on a wide scale, it is hoped this will assist in developing of non traditional reporting methods for cyber crime and using crowdsourcing as an aid to police investigation for cybercrime.
