Use of a Face Mask During Exercise to Improve Airway Health of Asthmatics.

05 February 2018

The University of Kent is investigating the effect of wearing a face mask on asthma, airway health and exercise performance. Physical activity in cold dry environments exacerbates symptoms for many individuals with asthma resulting in greater avoidance of physical activity during the winter months. The aim of this study is to determine if a mask designed to warm and humidify the air during exercise may provide a solution for people with asthma susceptible to cold dry environments.
