Relationship of Involuntary Musical Imagery Experience and Musical Habits

14 March 2018

Everyday we experience a variety of thoughts that pop into our minds without conscious effort. One specific type of these spontaneous thoughts is known as involuntary musical imagery (INMI) or “having an earworm.” The experience occurs when music comes into the mind without your conscious effort or control and repeats itself without you intentionally trying to replay the music. In this study, we are interested in the relationship between musicality and INMI.
