Imaging exercise metabolism in the MRI

21 August 2019

In muscle, the breakdown of sugar provides energy for movement to happen. The current method to detect these changes is to sample the muscle by taking a biopsy. Here, we propose to use and validate a novel non-invasive technology that allows imaging of the muscle in people in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner while exercising, which allows us to study how you breakdown sugar. This can be useful in assessing people where sampling of muscle is not feasible.
