Next Generation Paper Project: Creating Personal Augmented Photobooks

The Next Generation Paper Project aims to connect paper to web by developing new paper technologies, revolutionising how books are read, and information is consumed. It will do this by developing new augmented paper technologies to connect paper to any digital media type (i.e. sound, video, imagery). The study's aim is to to collect feedback on the user experience of creating augmented personalised photobooks with new paper technologies.

About the researcher

Dr Emily Corrigan-Kavanagh is a Research Fellow in Communication Design at the University of Surrey on the Next Generation Paper Project. Her role involves investigating the design aspects of new augmented paper technologies, such as how associated augmented content is generated and activated, as well as planning, running and analysis of reading studies and codesign workshops with prospective users to test and reconceptualise resulting prototypes. Prior to this, she completed a PhD at Loughborough University on Designing for Home Happiness and Creative Design Methods. Her research interests include designing for augmented paper, design for happiness and wellbeing, creative methods and visual research methods.
