£20 - Drive a Truck Simulator at the University of Leeds

10 April 2017

Approximately 2000 cyclists per year die on European roads, with older cyclists and children over-represented in these figures. Of all cyclist deaths, 25% are because of a collision between a bicycle and heavy goods vehicles (HGV). Compared to other modes of transport, fatalities at junctions are extremely high amongst cyclists. This experiment looks at developing warning systems that would assist truck drivers in identifying cyclists in the immediate vicinity, to reduce accidents.
