The effects of SSRIs on threat-of-shock potentiated neural circuitry (£50)

We are looking for participants with either NO HISTORY OF MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS or PERSISTENT ANXIETY AND/OR LOW MOOD to take part in our research study on the effects of SSRIs on emotional processing. The study will consist of two testing sessions involving behavioural tasks to be completed with and without fMRI scanning. Some tasks will involve harmless, infrequent electrical shocks. Between the two sessions, a 2-3 week course of an SSRI or placebo will be administered.


  • No history of mental health disorders OR persistent anxiety and/or low mood
  • fMRI compatible (including no claustrophobia)
