10 March 2016

Researchers at Deakin University are looking to better understand the experiences of sexuality and relationships, that are unique to individuals as they approach young adulthood. The main aim of this research is to investigate the issues and challenges; as well as the positive factors that males and females face in their pursuit of a healthy sexual development and fulfilling romantic and sexual life, while also learning about how these experiences differ from those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

About the researcher

Hello, thank you for considering our study. Our names are Laura and Grace, and we are psychology postgraduate (PhD and Doctor of Clinical Psychology) students at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Together, the two of us have a strong interest in the fields of dating, sexuality, and relationships in young adulthood both for those with and without an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis. We are hoping that our research can be used to better inform sex education programs and support services to ensure that the specific issues and unmet concerns are met and supported for all males and females irrespective of gender, identity, and diagnosis.
