The Effects of Physical Inactivity on Younger and Older volunteers
12 June 2017
We are interested in seeing how being physically inactive or 'sedentary' affects the way your muscles work. We know that this is different between younger and older individuals but we want to try and find out why. That way we can try and develop treatment or interventions to try and reduce the effect on the elderly. The study involves lab visits (Total of 8), muscle, blood, saliva and urine samples, MRI scans and DEXA scans.

About the researcher
I am a general surgical trainee that is taking time out of training for research. I am interested in the physiological effects of inactivity as we often see this behaviour in hospitalised and post operative patients, which does affect their outcome.
