04 August 2025 Requirements- You can take part if you are:
- • Aged 18 years or over.
- • Experiencing some post-traumatic stress symptoms, e.g. flashbacks or nightmares, or avoidance of reminders of the event, or feeling jumpy or on edge, as measured on the PTSD symptom screening measure.
- • Experiencing a daily sense of current threat.
- • Have access to a personal smartphone.
- You will not be able to take part if:
- • You are currently receiving psychological therapy, as this will make it difficult for researchers to know whether any changes during the study are due to therapy or taking part in the study.
- • Your scores on the screening measure (not diagnostic) for PTSD symptoms are above a pre-determined severity threshold. If this is the case, we suggest that you contact the signposted services for support.

01 May 2025 Requirements- There are some inclusion/exclusion criteria in place which are designed to limit the risks of adverse drug effects. We have a brief online questionnaire that you will need to complete so that we can assess your eligibility. Please see the link below.
- You are eligible if you are aged between 18 and 64 and don’t have a history of neurological illness or any other physical health condition likely to influence cognitive ability. To limit dangerous interactions with lorazepam, we are excluding individuals who are currently or have recently taken other drugs which are known to interact with lorazepam. We are excluding participants who are/may be/planning to get pregnant, to limit harm to unborn children. Other indications may be taken into account so that those with higher risk of side-effects of lorazepam are excluded (e.g. history of benzodiazepine allergy).

07 October 2024 Requirements- We are looking for people who have been experiencing persistent anxiety and/or low mood.
- All participants must be between 18 and 75 years old.
- Participants will need to be safe to go into the MRI scanner, meaning they must have no metal in their body that cannot be removed (piercings, implants, medical devices, etc).
- We unfortunately cannot accept participants who have taken antidepressant medication in the past six months.
- We also cannot accept participants who are currently receiving CBT treatment, or have received such treatment within the past 3 months.
- However, we are able to recruit participants who are on the waiting list for CBT treatment through the NHS, but please let us know.
- It is also preferable for participants to live in London.

- Current diagnosis of depression.
- Living with obesity (i.e., a body mass index equal to 30kg/m2 or higher).
- Currently taking an anti-depressant medication.
- Felt insufficient response to two other anti-depressant medications.
- Not currently taking antibiotics, antipsychotics, blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medications.
- Able to take minocycline for 8 weeks
