Voice recording session for speech studies

Noisy environments, such as busy cafes or restaurants, can affect our ability to understand speech. Previous research has shown that we are better at understanding familiar voices than unfamiliar ones, especially in these noisy environments. Our research group is examining whether training on different types of novel voices can induce this familiarity effect in a short time span. To perform this study, we require a large amount of voice recordings. You will be asked to help us create vocal stimu

Requirements

  • Male
  • Aged 18 to 35
  • Native English speaker
  • Must have Standard Southern British English Accent (grew up in London / South-East of England)
  • No history of hearing problems
  • Normal or corrected-to-normal vision
  • No history of speech impediment
  • No history of reading or language disorders (e.g. dyslexia)
