How therapists talk about Black girls in therapy.

11 August 2025

Black women are faced with stereotypes that suggest they are angry, mean & immoral. These stereotypes have been shown to impact how Black women are perceived and treated. Black girls face similar stereotypes, and this has been shown to impact how they are treated in the education system, the healthcare and justice system. This study aims to explore if these stereotypes also impact how Black girls are perceived and talked about in the therapy room.
