How do you buy internet connected products?

Everyday objects with the ability to connect to the internet are known as internet connected products. These include health wearables (e.g. Fitbit), smart thermostats (e.g. Nest) and home assistants/smart hubs (e.g. Amazon Echo). We are interested in the factors, such as battery life or security, that influence how you buy these internet connected products.
