Metacognitive Awareness in autistic and non-autistic adults.
08 April 2024
This study measures autistic traits, and then metacognitive awareness via an experimental judgement of performance task, and metacognitions survey. It attempts to measure both explicit and implicit metacognition by adapting known tasks to have an additional metacognitive component.
It was inspired by studies that have shown many autistic adults either self identify or are not diagnosed in childhood by using cognitively taxing compensation or negatively impacting masking strategies.

About the researcher
Hello, I'm currently completing my undergraduate degree in counselling psychology. I am very interested in metacognition, and compensatory strategies used by those with differing types of neurodevelopmental differences and how these findings may impact clinical practice.
