Observational studies of how musicians prepare for performances

26 March 2018

I am observing musicians' organisational methods when preparing for performances and also carrying out other activities e.g. looking at files in a computer, making notes, working with a digital audio workstation, etc. I am also interested in understanding how musicians make use of different resources and tools (e.g. the Internet, Digital Audio Workstation, Score-writing software, etc.) to support these practices.

Requirements

  • We are looking for musicians who are at least at an intermediate level of proficiency with guitar or bass guitar and that are actively performing with their primary instrument on a regular basis (e.g. learning new songs, practicing repertoire, rehearsing with other musicians, among other activities).
