Laymen attitude towards and knowledge of mental health

Previous research suggests that individuals tend to be less stigmatising of mental illnesses and their sufferers depending on their knowledge. Here, we are investigating the type of disorder and whether some are viewed more negatively than others. We are also exploring whether one’s level of familiarity with a condition affects one’s attitudes.

You can take part if you are aged 18 or more. Unfortunately, we can only allow adults to take part, as this may be a sensitive topic. However, anyone who is old enough may participate, regardless of age, gender, occupation, nationality, mental health etc.
This study has been approved by the Northumbria University Psychology Department Research Ethics Committee.
